Slip is welcome.
This is not a drift event.
As the name implies, we do allow slip: controlled oversteer, learning car control, and exploring your car’s limits within the designated course areas.
However, Slip Happens is NOT a drift event. It is not a Sonoma Drift–style, full-course drifting event like those held in previous years. If you are expecting full-course drifting, this event is not for you.
Under Sonoma Raceway’s current rules:
- No excessive tire smoke.
- No purpose-built drift cars. This restriction is currently in effect; we hope it may change in the future.
Working headlights, taillights, and brake lights are required on all participating vehicles.
We worked hard with Sonoma Raceway to make these evening events possible. Respecting these requirements helps protect future opportunities for everyone. Our goal is to provide a controlled environment focused on car control and driver development.

Your evening, made simple
What to expect.
Settle in.
Arrive during the event window, check in with the team, and review the event instructions before joining the course.
Start comfortably.
Get familiar with the cone layout and designated oversteer areas. Keep your first runs focused on smooth, controlled driving.
Build your rhythm.
Use each run to refine your inputs. Wednesday events use three run groups, with runs available throughout the evening.
A focused car-control experience
Controlled slides.
Clear expectations.
The course is set up in the Sonoma Raceway paddock, with cones defining the route. Controlled oversteer is permitted only in designated sections.
Course flow, driver awareness, and control come first. This is not a drift competition or a full-course drifting session; full race drift cars and unlimited smoke sessions are not part of the format.
Before you arrive
Come prepared.
- Working headlights, taillights, and brake lights are required.
- Drivers and passengers must be at least 18.
- Bring an SA2020+ or M2020+ helmet; rentals are available.
- Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a shirt with sleeves.
- The 103 dB sound limit is strictly enforced.
- Multiple drivers sharing one car must use different run groups.
- For this paddock event, convertible roll bars are recommended but not required.

You don’t need previous Slip Happens experience to join. Start at a comfortable pace and ask the team if you need help understanding the course or event flow.
Early-bird pricing
Standard Wednesday entry is $175 per driver. An early-bird discount may be available; check your event’s registration page for current pricing and availability.
