HPDE stands for High Performance Driving Education. Our track-day run groups focus on developing your driving skills in a structured environment. Choose your group by experience and ability. Competition sessions, including SpeedSF Challenge time attack, have separate rules and eligibility.

Yes. Start with the Beginner / Novice group. The beginner program includes instructor-led lead-and-follow driving for the first two sessions, with classroom sessions covering vehicle dynamics and the track. Ask your instructor about additional ride-along coaching.

Choose by experience and skill, not by vehicle type. Availability varies by event; contact us if you are unsure about placement.

SpeedSF Challenge uses a time-attack format with open passing and groups based on lap time. Beginners and passengers are not permitted. Unsafe driving, including four wheels off track, may end your session.

Most events offer approximately four to five 20-minute sessions per driver. Check your event schedule for the specific format.

Run groups typically have approximately 20–30 cars, depending on the track. SpeedSF limits group sizes to reduce traffic and improve the on-track experience.

Cancellations made at least 14 days before the event are eligible for a refund, less a $30 cancellation fee. Cancellations within 14 days of the event are not eligible for a refund or credit.

Optional cancellation insurance is available during registration to help protect your registration fee if a covered emergency prevents you from attending. Review the policy’s terms and exclusions before purchasing, including whether vehicle breakdowns are covered.

You may also transfer or sell your registration to another driver. Submit the driver transfer form at least 8 hours before the event.

Yes. You may transfer or sell your registration to another driver by notifying SpeedSF and submitting the driver transfer form at least 8 hours before the event. Event fees cannot be transferred to another event.

SpeedSF reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an event due to unforeseen circumstances.

Our pre-event check-in requirements are digital. You no longer need to submit a tech inspection form; each driver is responsible for ensuring their vehicle is properly prepared before the event. Use our tech inspection checklist (PDF) as a preparation reference.

Typically 3–5 days before the event, you will receive a logistics email containing:

• An e-waiver link
• The driver meeting video
• The driver meeting quiz

Complete all required items before arriving and follow the event-specific instructions. Drivers who have completed everything may arrive at least 30 minutes before their first session. Allow enough time to check in, prepare your vehicle, and get ready without rushing.

All beginner drivers must attend the in-person driver meeting, even if they have completed the digital requirements. Plan your arrival around the meeting time listed in your event email.

Events run rain or shine. Wet conditions offer an opportunity to practice smooth inputs and grip management. Follow the event briefing and drive within your ability and the conditions.

Yes, provided each driver registers and pays independently and is assigned to a different run group. Registration is counted per driver, not per vehicle. Drivers in the same run group cannot share a car.

Yes. You may bring multiple track-capable vehicles and switch between sessions. Let our registration team know at check-in. Each vehicle must be properly prepared and meet the event’s requirements.

The current FAQ lists SA2020+, M2020+, or FIA 8859-2020+ helmet ratings. Approved open-face helmets are allowed; full-face helmets are recommended.

• Cotton shirt required; long sleeves recommended.
• Closed-toe shoes required.
• Gloves optional, but recommended.
• Four-point harnesses are not allowed unless ASM certified.

Convertibles require proper factory or aftermarket rollover protection. NA/NB Miatas (1989–2005) must have approved roll bars. Driver and passenger helmets must sit below the windshield-to-roll-bar line.

Use at least two digits, with numbers at least 6 inches tall and visible on both sides. Single-digit numbers and confusing repeated digits such as 11 or 77 are not allowed. Secure the numbers where track staff can easily read them, such as the rear door, quarter window, or C-pillar.

Tow hooks are required. If your vehicle does not have one, install an aftermarket unit or identify a suitable front tow point before the event. You are responsible for ensuring towing will not damage the car and for any resulting damage.

Trucks, SUVs, and vans are not permitted unless SpeedSF grants an exception. Contact us before registering if you are unsure.

24 Hours of Lemons, ChumpCar, and similar project vehicles are not permitted under the current policy. This includes missing bumpers, windows, or body panels; poorly fitting non-OEM body parts; significant body damage or unfinished primer; and attached signage or artistic modifications.

Passengers must be at least 18 years old and are permitted in HPDE run groups except Novice. Instructors are the exception to the Novice restriction. Passengers are not permitted in SpeedSF Challenge competition sessions.

All passengers must sign a waiver at the registration desk and receive a wristband before riding on track. Individual track rules may be more restrictive.

Drivers aged 16–17 may participate with advance approval from SpeedSF. Before registering, email info@speedsf.com with the driver’s full name, date of birth, and driving experience.

After approval, print and complete the minor waiver and submit it at the registration desk on the day of the event. A parent or guardian must be present, or the waiver must be notarized in advance.

• Keep to the 10 mph paddock speed limit. No drifting or burnouts; violations may result in removal.
• Attend the required drivers’ meeting. Missing it may mean lost track time or cancellation without a refund.
• Before pit lane, remove loose items from the cabin, storage areas, trunk, and sun visors; also remove floor mats, hubcaps, lug-nut covers, and steering-wheel lock devices.
• Keep both front windows fully down during track sessions.
• No alcohol on track property during the event.
• No smoking in the hot pit, near fuel pumps, or inside buildings.
• No brake bedding or vehicle testing on infield roads.
• Use designated waste-fluid drums. Improper disposal may lead to ejection and a fine.
• Take used tires, batteries, and unwanted parts home.

Gates usually open between 6 and 7 a.m.; check your event email for the facility’s schedule.

SpeedSF events have either a fire rescue unit or an EMT on standby. Trained corner marshals are stationed at blind corners to assist participants.

Motorsport carries inherent risk. Accidents, injuries, and serious vehicle damage can occur. Safety equipment and event procedures do not eliminate that risk. Drive within your ability and follow staff instructions.

Check directly with your insurer before the event. Do not assume your existing auto policy covers track driving; ask specifically about your event, vehicle, and coverage needs.

Specialized HPDE insurance is optional and recommended. Depending on the policy, it may cover damage to your vehicle during an eligible HPDE event. Coverage for damage to track property is not automatic; confirm whether it is included or requires separate coverage. Review all deductibles, limits, and exclusions with the insurer.

Pets are welcome but must remain leashed and under control. Failure to control your pet may result in ejection from the event.

Camping may be available at select multi-day events. Contact SpeedSF to confirm availability before making plans.

Many facilities have fuel pumps that accept credit or debit cards. Pumps may be unattended and may not accept cash. Confirm the arrangements for your event and track.

Charging availability and access vary by facility. Please contact the track directly or visit its website for current charging information before your event.
